What is the cost of a DPTA Membership?
Annual DPTA memberships cost only $15.00 for independent Tennis Professionals and $50.00 for Tennis Clubs and Facilities (the fee covers ALL Tennis Professionals associated with the Club or Facility). Player memberships are FREE! We encourage Players to join so that we have the ability to notify you about new tournaments and other important announcements.
DO I HAVE TO BE A DPTA MEMBER TO PLAY IN DPTA TOURNAMENTS?
No, DPTA membership is not required for Players to enter DPTA Tournaments or take advantage of other DPTA services.
DO I HAVE TO BE A DPTA MEMBER TO PLAY IN USTA TOURNAMENTS?
USTA membership is required to play in USTA Sanctioned DPTA circuit and DPTA Champ/Super Champ tournaments. USTA membership is not required to play DPTA novice tournaments or other non-sanctioned tournaments.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOVICE CIRCUIT, JUNIOR CIRCUIT, AND CHAMP-SUPER CHALLENGER TOURNAMENTS?
Novice Tournaments are for beginning and/or first time youth tournament players. They last 4 hours and are played using a non-elimination format. Circuit Tournaments are for non-qualified players who are playing or starting to play Challenger Tournaments. Playing in at least 4 Circuit Tournaments will qualify you for the year-end Masters Tournament. The top 2 players in the Masters Tournament will earn a spot to represent Dallas in the State Grand Prix at the John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, TX. Champ-Super Champ tournaments are sanctioned tournaments for qualified players and offer Level 4 standings points for Super Champ players and Level 2 ranking points for Champ players. Yes, our Novice Tournaments are designed for beginning and/or first-time youth tournament players.
HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE MASTERS TOURNAMENTS?
To qualify for the Masters Tournaments, a player has to play in at least 4 DPTA Circuit Tournaments, live in the “75” zip code, and cannot be a Champ or Super-Champ qualified player.
DO DPTA POINTS QUALIFY AS CHALLENGER POINTS?
No. DPTA points are used for seeding purposes only in DPTA Circuit Tournaments and do not earn you any challenger points. Challenger points can only be earned in Challenger Tournaments.
What is the Novice Circuit?
The Novice Circuit is for very inexperienced or first time tournament players. Players must have played in less than 10 ZAT tournaments to be eligible. No Champ or Super Champ players may enter a Novice Circuit tournament.
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR A NOVICE CIRCUIT TOURNAMENT?
Novice Circuit tournaments generally require 3-4 hours to complete, depending on how many players sign up. The Tournament Director will determine the starting time for the day the tournament is held. Approximate match times will be posted on the tournament page. Most tournaments run on schedule, but weather conditions, long-running matches, court availability, and other factors may affect the length of the tournament and scheduled match times.
DO NOVICE CIRCUIT PLAYERS NEED A USTA MEMBERSHIP?
No, USTA membership is not required for participation in the Novice Circuit.
CAN NOVICE CIRCUIT PLAYERS ALSO PLAY IN THE REGULAR DPTA CIRCUIT TOURNAMENTS?
Yes, you may. We have found that the regular DPTA circuit has become very competitive and we wanted to give an opportunity to those just starting out. Players that will play in the Novice Circuit will have less than 10 ZAT points.
What is the Junior Circuit?
The Junior Circuit is for Challenger-level players, players just starting to play Challenger tournaments, and players ready to move up from the Novice Circuit. Champ and Super Champ players may not compete in the Junior Circuit. Junior Circuit players compete for points that are used to seed later tournaments, including the Masters Tournament. Players who live in the “75” zip code and play at least 4 Junior Circuit Tournaments are eligible for the year-end Masters Tournament. The top 2 players in each age division at the Masters Tournament will get to represent Dallas in the State Grand Prix held at the world famous John Newcombe Tennis Ranch in New Braunfels, Texas (normally held the last weekend of September).
WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT FOR A Junior CIRCUIT TOURNAMENT?
Junior Circuit tournaments normally start around 8am and end around 4pm or 5pm, depending on how many players sign up. Match times are usually posted on the USTA tournament web page by the Thursday before the tournament begins. No matches will start before 8am and we strive to be finished with all matches by 5pm. Most tournaments run on schedule, but weather conditions, long-running matches, court availability, and other factors may affect the length of the tournament and scheduled match times.
DO JUNIOR CIRCUIT PLAYERS NEED A USTA MEMBERSHIP?
No, USTA membership is not required for participation in the Junior Circuit.
CAN JUNIOR CIRCUIT PLAYERS ALSO PLAY IN THE REGULAR DPTA CIRCUIT TOURNAMENTS?
Yes, you may. In order to play in the Junior Circuit players have to have no more than 10 Challenger points.
What is the Champ-SUper Challenger Circuit?
The Champ-Super Challenger circuit tournaments are USTA sanctioned tournaments for players who are qualified as a Champ or Super Champ player through the USTA. Super Champ players will receive Level-4 Standings points and Champ players will receive Level-2 Ranking Points. Champ-Super Challenger tournaments are 2-day tournaments (Saturday and Sunday). All match times are normally posted on the USTA tournament web page by the Tuesday before the tournament begins. No matches will start before 8am and all matches should conclude by 6pm. Most tournaments run on schedule, but weather conditions, long-running matches, court availability, and other factors may affect the length of the tournament and scheduled match times.
DO CHAMP-SUPER CHALLENGER CIRCUIT PLAYERS NEED A USTA MEMBERSHIP?
Yes, all Champ-Super Challenger tournaments are sanctioned by the USTA, and USTA membership is required for all participants.
CAN CHAMP-SUPER CHALLENGER CIRCUIT PLAYERS ALSO PLAY IN THE REGULAR DPTA CIRCUIT TOURNAMENTS?
No, Novice Circuit and Junior Circuit tournaments are for non-qualified players only.
